How you can increase performance of Windows 10 / 8 / 8.1
 

1.       Start up items

“Start up items are those software's, services which get started as soon as you login windows”

Every software runs in back ground means every time you open a particular software some services , resources , CPU time etc is being used by that software or allocated for the software.

“Start up items are those softwares, services which get started as soon as you login windows.” Even if you do not need it or you don't use. They are running , using and sharing your system resources

Which means Every time you login to windows some software are using your system resources

unnecessary : So, why not kill them

i believe most of us has experienced as soon as we enter the password system slowly shows all the icons on the desktop , mouse pointer resolves , task bar loads slowly , and when we do a right click on the desktop screen to refresh the windows pointer it resolves and after few seconds or minutes and then it work .

Here is the solution

1)      Do a right click on the start icon as shown

2)      Choose run option and then type Msconfig then click on OK

3)      Click on  start items Tab , then click on task manager

4)      Now here you need to click on items (single click) and then click on disable.

NOTE : only disable those software which is not required DO NOT DISABLE DRIVERS

5)      Close the task manager . go back to the msconfig windows , click on general tab , choose selective startup then Apply and OK

6)      Restart the system.

2.       Increase number of processors.

In these days people have computers with multi core processors

You can increase performance of operating system by putting other core’s at work

Follow these steps so you can use your processors Efficiently.

1)      Do a right click on the start icon as shown

2)      Choose run option and then type Msconfig then click on OK

3)      Click on  Boot Tab , then click on Advanced option

4)      Check the Number of Processors

5)      Click on the number below(Drop down menu) and choose the highest number.

6)      Click on OK and Apply on the System Configuration then OK.

7)      Restart your system

3.       Run the disk clean up utility.

Disk clean up helps you to delete temporary files clear recycle bin and other dump files which you don't need

How to Perform it ? Follow these steps.

1.       Open any folder and right click on the C drive and choose properties.

2.       Click on Disk clean up

3.       Another Menu will open so now here you need to put a check on those item which you want to clear and then click on clean up system files

4.       Delete temp files.

How to perform it

1.       Right click on the start icon and choose run

2.       In run box type  “%Temp%” click on OK button.

3.       Hold down the Ctrl+A and select all the files and folders then press delete button on keyboard.

Note : You will not be able to delete every file so leave those files which you will not be able to delete 

5.       Increase virtual memory.

Virtual memory it’s a concept where another memory usually hard disk will give some space to execute programs and will give your programs more space to execute the instructions

Suppose a program needs 2.5 GB space to execute however you have 2 GB RAM in your System

So your OS will either give you a message of insufficient memory .

Initially settings are automatically manage things according to windows however this is time consuming that’s why we are going to manually set the values so windows don’t need to spend the time for calculation of paging

How to set it ? follow these steps.

1)      Do a right click on the start icon as shown.

2)      Choose run option and then type sysdm.cpl then click on OK.

3)      Click on Advanced Tab then Settings under performance as shown.

4)      A new Tab open and we need to click on advanced then change as shown.

5)      Uncheck the option ”Automatically manage paging file size for all drives”

6)      Select on custom size Enter the recommended amount in Initial size and multiple the recommended*2 and put the value in Maximum size Box then click on Set button.

7)      Then click on OK button and Apply button then again OK button.

6.       Run Junkware removal tool.

Junkware removal tool as name suggest it removes junk from your system there are few things which I like about this tool

 1.       Double click on the file

2.       Press any key on the keyboard

3.       Sometime you might get the error still press any key to continue

4.       By the end it creates a log file so close it 

7.       Run malware bytes.

How to use it

1.       Double click on the file and install the software

2.       How its look. Click on scan now

3.       Software will go through different stages , it might takes 10 – 15 minutes

4.       Last screen looks like . all stages are cleared

8.       Run the Autoruns tool.

1.       Unzip the file by right click on the file and then choose extract to autoruns

2.       Locate the Autorun folder at the same place then open the folder and double click on the file Autorun.exe

A file will open and looks like this

3.       Uncheck the first file you see in yellow color highlighted and then choose run as administor

Same file will restart . once done

4.       Go to the file and uncheck all the file which are in yellow color

NOTE : some files will give this error “Access is denied” message comes . leave those files

5.       Once done close the application and work on the system.
